Jewellery, Florentines and the Olympic Torch

Me again!
I've had a bit of a jewellery making phase recently and here are the makes, I've shared the button bracelets and necklaces on other posts but here's the rest. My dearest friend Sarah asked me to make her a bracelet to match an outfit she'd brought for a wedding and gave me 2 weeks notice to design, order beads, make and get it to her (eek!)
So here is the Black and Magenta charm bracelet I made for her and I couldn't resist making a matching necklace and earrings for her, (even though she had brought something to match already).

I also brought these lovely wooden discs to make a bracelet. I love them and I've worn it a few times already.

I've had a bit of a baking fad recently and to be specific Florentines. My friend gave me a lovely recipe for Cherry and Coconut ones and I've had fun making a few batches. They are morelike a tray bake than a traditional round thin Florentine, but very yummy indeed. Percy pocket bug popped by to snaffle a crumb or two.

I took the kids down to see the Olympic Torch when it passed through our town last week. It was very exciting to see it even if I did make the children wait 2 hours on a park bench! We didn't see all the sponsor convoy but we saw the torch and also a hand over that happened a bit down from us. I'm full of pride to be British at the moment. I've never worn so much red, white and blue and I just love that I've been able to witness once in a lifetime events like the Torch and the Diamond Jubilee.

RAK, WIP, Cake!

Hi Everyone,

Well it's a bitterly cold blustery day today which I spent out and about taking Lottie to speech therapy and for a hearing test. All was ok and ST don't want to see her until May now and she won't have to go back to audiology either. We did go to a friends for lunch wich was lovely, so nice to have a catch up.

I got home to a lovely surprise parcel from Laura full of fabric for my hexagon quilt and some charms too. Lucky, lucky me! Thank you Laura!

I've been having a rest from the blackwork sampler and working on a little freebie as part of the Monthy Freebie challenge on Needlecraft Haven. I've changed the dates and the initals so it can become an anniversary gift for hubby in June for our 10th wedding anniversary. I didn't ever get round to stitching a wedding sampler so this one will become it.

The kids and I made some crispy cakes yesterday from a recipe which I think is an Annabel Karmel one. I got it from a friend yesterday and they were yum. These are white chocolate and apricot ones.

Last week Thomas met the author Shoo Rayner at school and had one of his books signed. Very exciting for him!

I posted my exchange card to McKenna on Monday so I can reveal that sometime next week along with the little handmade bits I put in the parcels to the winners of my giveaway.

101 update

Hi everyone,

Yes my posts are like buses, none for ages then 3 come along (almost) at once!

So here are the latest stats:

So Since I lat blogged about it I've baked a cake for Mum, It was an apple and sultana cake and was rather nice (although it sunk in the middle a bit)

I've also been to the theatre. I went up on Friday to the BIrmingiham Hippodrome to see Dirty Dancing. It was FABULOUS. It made me remember why I love the theatre. They used the original soundtrack  and more and there were a few new scenes too. I do love the film and I wasn't disapointed by the stage production either.

And my fab pink tour bag that says "I carried a watermelon?!"

So as for the other ones in progress,

I'm currently reading The Iron Horse by Edward Marston. It's the second book of my challenge as I finished Murder on the Brighton Express by the same author last week.

I've been eating new flavours of ice cream - I tried a honeycomb and fig one last week and had Ben and Jerry's Vermonster last night. 101 Things is great if for doing nothing other than trying new ice cream flavours!

I've been sorting the stash and having a tidy up. I did the magazines and fabric last week. Eating my 5 a day is a bit hit and miss but I'm certainly more aware of what I'm eating.
