August Gifted Gorgeousness

Hello, 

It's a lovely sunny afternoon here and we're having a lazy day. I have to do some planning work to do in a bit for church but hopefully it should just be typing up so won't take me long and I can enjoy a bit of crafting this afternoon. 

So on to gifted gorgeousness, Jo at Serendipitous Stitching runs a monthly SAL that I'm hopeless at keeping up with to share things that are made for gifts or using stuff gifted to us. I've three things to show you this time as I shall save my travelling box makes for my next  couple of posts. First are two you have seen and we're both birthday presents

So this ticks a lot of boxes as it was a kit that was gifted, I swapped out the plain white aida for some hand dyed linen from Steph at Show and Tell and given as a gift to my friend Amanda. 

The next one is new! I'm stitching this for my friend Caroline's birthday. The design is from an old cross stitcher. I call Caroline 'queen of hearts' as she is always sewing hearts, so I searched on Pinterest and found this design called queen of hearts. I had the issue deep in my magazine pile so here is my progress so far. I'm loving the design and I'm stitching it in a dinky dyes thread called Aussie Jewels. I'm hoping I have enough thread as I can't find a supplier in the UK of dinky dyes.

Travelling Box Makes - round 3

So the box has made it's way to South Africa and is now with Cucki so I can reveal all my makes for the box. The travelling box really is a joy to make for so I had no problem coming up with several ideas for it. So below you can see, knitted bunny, satin corsage, bunny scissor fob, flower bookmark clip, heart feltie, friendly plastic brooch and the close ups I'm about to show you...

This was a piece of printed fabric where I crossed stitched over the top of some parts to give a raised effect. I brought the fabric when visiting Laura.

I love making charm bracelets and here is one with some pretty mottled beads. I couldn't decide on the earrings so ended up making 2 pairs!

More jewellery, this time the bracelet was made by my 8 yr old. He chose the beads and pattern and I just helped him put on the clasp and made some matching earrings for him.



So here is a little toadstool keyring bag fob thingie with some glass bead charms. It's from a biscornu chart designed by Steph.



I had to add a biscornu and here is one on some hand dyed linen.

And the bottom, I really love working on Steph's hand dyed fabric and the little mill hill beads worked perfectly as they were a kind of grey with different coloured centres.

I once again stitched on hand dyed linen with another of Stephs fab charts is the wee faerie. This is Wee Plum Faerie and I do love her. She is a joy to stitch and I made her up into a little cushion hanging thingie. Not the best picture I must admit, propped up on some duplp, perhaps haniging from something may have made a better pic...oops!

The other thing I wanted to show you a close up off was the dragonfly brooch I made in friendly plastic using a shaped frame I found in a craft shop, but there doesn't appear to be a pic of it on my camera. you can just see the tail in the picture with the toadstool keyring. I've got a couple of others to try out so hopefully I can show you then.

So just a few more months until the box returns and I can't wait...on with the travelling box round 4 making ideas list!!

A lovely RAK for me!

Hi Friends and happy Saturday!!

Just a very short post to show a lovely RAK I received from Steph this week. It was such as surprise as I wasnt expecting anything (hence it being a RAK d'oh!)

Not the best composition of a photograph but as you can see there was a gorgeous ball of green marble wool, a book called the white giraffe and a lovely buttercup scented candle. I also had an original pen and ink wee witchy drawing on the card. The fabric is a piece of hand dyed evenweave I brought from Stephs folksy shop Dolly Dolly Daydreams.  It came in a lovely package with some thank you charms, one of Stephs business cards and a mad showgirl guinea pig card!! How fabulous!!

I've no makes to show at the moment as I've been making for the travelling box. It's going to be a bit of a secret make month as I want to make something for hubby for our anniversary next month and also I have a couple of birthdays too. Anyhoo the travelling box will be off to Cucki at the beginning of next week so I'll be able to share my picks and hopefully in a couple of weeks share my makes...all 14 of them!!

March Tusal and Mothering Sunday

Just a very quick post to show you my last months ORT's.  February was a good stitching month as it shows here, but who knows what next month will be like! It's been a bit light on the stitching so far. Stitchy bug has moved back to the 1970's and is on a 3 day week or a go slow, whichever mood suits at the time. This isn't all that convenient for me as I've got things to do, don't you know! the link to Daffycats blog is on my side bar for those of you who want to know what it's all about.

The London tin is my little pot for gathering the ORTs each month before I put them into the TUSAL jar. Here is the year so far all in the little jar.

I had a lovely Mothering Sunday with flowers and chocs from my Mum to me! I had a Formula one 2013 guide from the children and from hubby I had a Kindle Fire!!!!!! Awesome or what!!! Hubby also treated me to 4 Mouseloft kits and some wool in Hobbycraft on Saturday and brought some beautiful fabric for me to make him a cushion and kindle case...(cue stash pics!) The fabric was rather hard to photograph,but it is a chinese brocade with phoenix and dragons on.

You can see my current knitting WIP with the wool, but to reveal what it will become would be telling ;-)
It was nice to pick up the needles after the best part of 12 months and just knit infront of the TV, whilst half watching Lewis.

Ooh nearly forgot, Steph sent me another piece of her hand dyed fabric on Saturday, My new piece is on the right and you can see it with the other piece she sent me a couple of weeks ago on the left. Steph has some more beautiful pieces in her Folksy shop here

Right time to I still need to read the chapter of the book we are studying at the Mums Bible study this morning.
