WIPocalypse February check-in

Hi everyone,

It's been a busy few days for blogging and apologies for things you may have already seen this week. Firstly a couple of people commented on the tiny hoops from Tiger in my last post. These are they so you know what you're looking for.

So on to today which is the turn of WIPocalypse hosted by Measi

WIPocalypse Button

I dug out my crochet  to see where I was up to with my various projects. I had 2 blankets and a cowl to finish.

I finished the squares for the blanket from the granny square swap, I need to make a decision on how to sew/crochet them together. I can't decide on the colour to use to bring them all together - I'm thinking maybe a charcoal grey as I don't fancy white so any thoughts on it are  welcomed.

I did finish the chunky cowl and I've worn it a couple of times too. It's not blocked very well, but I'm still learning the best ways to do that.

The winter blanket was all together and I've almost finished crocheting it together using the join as you go method, which suits me, however I've run out of white yarn. I don't know whether the garage holds a hidden supply or whether I need to purchase more. It's been on the go for so long, I can't actually remember what I brought at the time. One thing I do know is that both blankets have an awful lot of ends to sew in.

I've started to crochet a few flowers to add to the centres of the small joining squares. 2 down 19 to go!

Stitching wise - I finished the biscornu. I'm soooooooooo glad it's done and in a couple of afternoons too, I think I had to frog each of the 4 snowflakes at least once.

I've been stitching on Twelve Days too - I'm now over the 3/4 point which is really good as it's been a slog at times. We've gone from here...

To here.

I'm looking forward to mixing it up for Theme-Tas-Stitch's March Madness and doing some work on the WIP's in the basket and also several new starts which will be added to the WIPocalypse list. I've got a fair few additional starts planned to my 17 for 2017 but mostly smalls for various occasions over the coming months.

Each month Measi posts a question...

February – What is your favourite stitch other than the standard cross stitch?  (bonus points if you provide a how-to link or diagram it on your blog post!)

It has to be the stitches used in Blackwork (mostly double running stitch) Blackwork Journey has some excellent tutorials and free designs and you may have seen Liz Almond's designs in various cross stitch magazines in the UK.

I've done several pieces of Blackwork and I framed this one last week from my box of shame. It has smyrna stitch, Algerian eyes, couching, bullion stitches, vertical cross stitch, french knots as well as the running stitch, It's a design by Jane Greenoff that was in WOXS issue 114. It's also got a really good guide to each stitch as part of the chart.

Wow that was a long post...
Happy stitching friends.
