Theme-a-licious Figural February wrap up

Figural February
Who are the people in your neighborhood...your WIP neighborhood, that is? Give your people-populated projects some face time this month.

Not a huge amount done this month on my my Big Bang Theory chart. I did happen to be having a little look on Wee Little Stitches on Etsy and saw they had added Amy and Bernadette to the pattern and kindly offered anyone who'd brought the pattern the new characters for free. So I now have more to stitch and the great thing is my fabric is plenty big enough!!

Here is where I'm at with BBT, Penny all done and we have a headless and legless Raj too.

I did an exchange with Steph this week too and I know she is a fan - so I stitched her a Sheldon Cooper bookmark. Bazinga!

I've stitched a lot for friends this month so does that count too?!? Age old story of can't show you until they have received it though, so plenty of posts next month.

So looking forward to March... (My thoughts in green)

March Madness
Work on something different every day...it's madness...of the funnest possible kind.
Time to make a start on all those cover kits I think, although I may limit myself to just 15 projects as 31 WIP's would probably push me over the edge! It's Mothering Sunday and Mum's birthday too so there will be liitle projects for Mum too. I could easily start 31 projects though...

Needlecraft Haven - Monthly challenge

Hi everyone,

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. I've spent a lot of mine stitching so can't be bad! I managed to get 4 things finished this weekend so I'm very pleased :-) The only down side is that I can't reveal any until  later this week.

I'm sorry if I haven't had chance to visit your blogs this week. I've read most of them on my phone but it's rather hard to comment, especially if you have the verifier on. We had a bit of a plumbing nightmare this week and unfortunatly as a consequence we are having to share thre computer. Normal service should be resumed this week hopefully.

I do have a finish to show you. I joined Needlecraft Haven after seening the lovely things Jo had stitched during the course of last year in the Monthly Stitching Challenge. So here is my first piece It's a design by Threadwork Primitives and I stitched it to be a wedding sampler for Hubby and I as we've been married 10 years this June.

Here's a close up of it - It's stitched on cream evenweave using DMC threads. I altered the colours slightly to be a little brighter and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  Hubby really likes it too - which is a bonus!!

I'm hoping to get it on the wall in the lounge later this week. My stitching is slowly taking over!!! I'll be back later in the week to show you the biscornu I made for Steph for our exchange and with a wrap up for theme-a-licious and also a 101 update.

Have a great evening. Happy crafting.

Valentines

Hi everyone,

Here is the swap I did with McKenna. She sent me this lovely card and as you may remember I won McKenna's January giveaway too so Mr Octopus arrived too!

This is the card I made for McKenna, The design was from an ancient WOXS and stitched in some of my favourite Anchor varigated threads. I remembered I had the card blanks in with all my old card making stuff and I'm really pleased how well they work together.

For Valentines day for Hubby, I stitched this card, using the same pattern, but with a different card blank and stuck to one colour. I used Anchor Vari number 1344 - Iris and then got out some pastel sharpies and coloured in the hearts.

Hubby is rather keen on dragons, so I got him this very sweet sleepy dragon from Steph's Folksy store.

Mr Octopus soon moved into the Ami basket and here he is with his new friends.

Now the other Ami basket were not impressed that they weren't going to feature so to keep the peace here they are. The owls can be troublesome, they know their rights!

And here are the two baskets on my fireplace with the beautiful roses hubby brought me for Valentines Day.

So there we have Valentines day! Thanks for reading. x

Theme-a-licious Figural February check in

So It's theme-a-licious time again and here's this months...urm...theme!

Figural February
Who are the people in your neighborhood...your WIP neighborhood, that is? Give your people-populated projects some face time this month.
This has got to be my Big Bang Theory chart!

Ok, so only a teeny, tiny bit of a start on the Big Bang Theory chart. The design is from Wee Little Stitches on Etsy. I don't think this design will take a huge amount of time a it's very straight forward design. So here you can see Penny is not far off done. I'm hoping another session on it tonight, then we might see Raj appear too. I had planned on stitching on it last night but I got slightly side tracked by my new book - Is it just me by Miranda Hart. So very, very funny.

I did make this bookmark recently - I'm not sure if it was in January that it was stitched but it was certainly finished off this month. As it's a quote from CS Lewis (Author of the Chronicles of Narnia) I'm counting it as people! I did pinch this picture from Laura, it's recipient as I forgot to take a pic of it.

Hopefully I'll have a lot more to show you in the wrap up post. I've been stitching a lot this month for people so I think that counts as people populated!!!

Check out It's Geek to me for more Theme-a-licious updates and I'll be back with the wrap up on the 28th!

Have a great weekend. x

Surprise post!

Hi Everyone

I had a lovely surprise in the post from Steph today for taking part in her book challenge. She sent me this lovely parcel of goodies...

There was a packet of seeds, some book fabric (watch out hexagon quilt and 2 other projects I have in mind) a book spine bookmark  and a book token. How awesome is that! I'll be holding on to that for a week or so for the new Agatha Raisin to come out! I know Steph would approve of that choice!

You can see the 50 book challenge blog here... and I have a page on the top of my blog too.

I'm planning a little surprise thank you for Steph as a thank you :-D

Happy reading!

Giveaway prizes

Hi everyone,

Here are the prizes I sent out to Lauren and Laura following their wins.

Lauren received these charts, a bag of bits, bobs and ribbons and I made a little scissor fob and mini hug cushion (pattern from Steph)

Laura had these kits, a simular bit and bobs bag, scissor fob and a bookmark with a CS Lewis quote. I don't seem to have a picture of the bookmark close up, oops but it says "You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough for me"

I'll be launching my hexagon quilt giveaway in a couple of weeks so watch this space, but in the meantime you can check out these giveaways around the bloggersphere.

My first TUSAL post

So I'm a day late but I've had an awful cold this weekend that put pay to almost everything. I didn't even switch the computer on. So this evening has been spent catching up on as many blogs as I could (wow you've all been busy!)

So here is my first ort jar...

It's got a few gold strands where I experimented with various metallics for my sampler. Other orts are from all the biscornu I made last month and from the Needlecraft Haven February stitching challenge.

If you click on the link on the side bar for Daffycat's blog you can find out all about the TUSAL.

Have a good week everyone. x

RAK, WIP, Cake!

Hi Everyone,

Well it's a bitterly cold blustery day today which I spent out and about taking Lottie to speech therapy and for a hearing test. All was ok and ST don't want to see her until May now and she won't have to go back to audiology either. We did go to a friends for lunch wich was lovely, so nice to have a catch up.

I got home to a lovely surprise parcel from Laura full of fabric for my hexagon quilt and some charms too. Lucky, lucky me! Thank you Laura!

I've been having a rest from the blackwork sampler and working on a little freebie as part of the Monthy Freebie challenge on Needlecraft Haven. I've changed the dates and the initals so it can become an anniversary gift for hubby in June for our 10th wedding anniversary. I didn't ever get round to stitching a wedding sampler so this one will become it.

The kids and I made some crispy cakes yesterday from a recipe which I think is an Annabel Karmel one. I got it from a friend yesterday and they were yum. These are white chocolate and apricot ones.

Last week Thomas met the author Shoo Rayner at school and had one of his books signed. Very exciting for him!

I posted my exchange card to McKenna on Monday so I can reveal that sometime next week along with the little handmade bits I put in the parcels to the winners of my giveaway.

McKenna is having another giveaway for the cutest valentines octopus you can enter to win it here.

So until next time...

Sunday 3 February 2013

Drum roll please...

Thank you to everyone who has entered my Stash Busting Giveaway.

I used a random name generator otherwise known as the children to pick the winners. The two winners are...

Lauren and Laura

Ladies I have your addresses so I'll pop your prizes in the post this week.

Thank you to all those who entered. I was overwhelmed by the response. I'm preparing my Hexagon quilt kit giveaway so I'll launch that soon.

A little finish, Hexagon quilt and more

I've yet more followers, a big welcome to you!! I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I've a little finish to share. I wanted to stitch a bookmark each for my Bible study group friends. I found a fab chart on Etsy and here is the first one of the 4 that I've done. I'm doing the same design in 4 different colours.

Nancy at the Victorian motto shoppe is having a giveaway to win one of 5 kits she sells. Click here to enter. She has some beautiful kits. I love the Hare one and the Hope one too. There are so many giveaways happening at the moment - McKenna has a great list here , and is doing a weekly round up on a Wednesday of various giveaways happening. A fair few have finished but there are still some to enter...You never know!! I was very lucky to win McKenna's giveaway and I'll share what I won when it arrives (Excited squeal!)

The blackwork sampler is coming on really well and I'm loving stitching it. Not much more progress at the moment, I've jarred my back so it's been a bit uncomfortable to sit for long. I also sat and did a couple of hours on my quilt too as it's a bit easier to move position, so here is the latest pic, still a very looooooooooong way to go though. If anyone would like to be part of the quilt and send any small scraps of fabric, I'd love to make you part of the story. I have fabric from a few friends already and it's lovely to be able to say "that bit is from..." The left column and the bottom row are the latest additions.

Despite being on my stash bust at the moment, I did have a little splurge friday and brought this lot from here. A lot will be used for my giveaway or for makes for the travelling box. It's a great shop for charms and bits and excellent service, I ordered Friday morning and it was here the next day.

Another little purchase was this beautiful brooch from Steph, this is a custom design as I wanted it to go with a couple of outfits - one was the cardi it is pinned to. It's called Star of Wonder.

You can see others here on her blog and in her Folksy Shop .Steph also included a little bag of bits. The beads spell out THANK U. How sweet is that, (although it took me a couple of mins to work out!) I did get something else but it is hubby's valentines present (or part of).

Today is the drawing of my stash busting giveaway so I'll be back later with that. (another excited squeal!)
