Theme-tas-stitch!

Hey Folks,

I must say I love my Saturday mornings sat at the dining table with the laptop, coffee and toast, watching out the window at the birds in our garden. We didn't many birds other than Sparrows, Robins and Blackbirds at the old house so I was really pleased to see a Wren and Greenfinch this morning. We get a lot of Blackbirds as they love the apple tree and having the field behind us will hopefully mean we see a lot of new visitors - especially when I put some food out.

WIPocalypse 2017

Hey Folks,

So a few days late, but here is my introduction post for WIPocalypse 2017 hosted by Measi. Most of you will be familiar with how it works but basically it's an easy going SAL where we choose our own projects that are Works-In-Progress  and post about our progress on the last Sunday of the month. There is usually a question too about us and our stitching. this month it's just introductions...

2017 plans

Thank you for that lovely welcome back...

I don't intend to set many goals this year as I'm rather over ambitious and just end up getting a little bit stressed out. So for 2017 here are my goals. I'm going to attempt 17 stitching projects in 2017. I have listed 16 as I'm sure something else will catch my eye during the year. The WIP's must be completed and the new starts - started!! I've put my quilt down and the 3 crochet projects I have on the go too down but they don't count in the 17. Despite me saying I'm not setting goals - that's more than last year and also includes several 4 WIP's from last year too. My theory is that I will complete the 7 WIP's and then have 3 to go into 2018 with along with a handful of small finishes too. I'm hoping this will help me stash bust too as only the humbug and ES need to be kitted up.

Hello friends,

So after a rather long blogging hiatus back as we very unexpectedly moved house at the end of October. I now feel I am unpacked, settled and ready to start stitching again. I am looking forward to catching up on all of my favourite blogs, So I'll be round slowly to see what you've all been up to.

At the end of my last post I had been running a giveaway to celebrate my Blogversary. Well I don't believe in promising things that I won't come through with so better late than never and in my next post I'll draw the winners and also for my end of year competition that I sent last January. I also ran a competition to guess biscornu's in my bowl and how many I'd stitch in 2016. I'll announce that too.

I'm not going to have a big looking back on 2016 post as I didn't finish masses so here are a few of the year's highlights.

1985 - Jo was 19.  This was a year of massive changes for Jo.  She sat her 'A' levels in the June then got a summer job working in the bar at a local holiday camp.  She lived on site with her boyfriend and learned how to cook for herself when the takeaway was shut!  In October Jo started her first proper job as a Trainee Insurance Broker with Sedgwicks Marine Department in the nearby city of Norwich.  She earned the princely sum of £286 per month.

And now for me... 1985 was the year I turned 8. It was the year I went up to Junior school being taught by Mrs Hemsley, who drove a Morris Minor. I had already learnt to sew and had completed a long stitch of a fawn in a green frame. I still have it somewhere but after the trauma of (unsuccessfully) trying to find a photograph of me at Mum's yesterday (seriously, that woman could be on hoarders) I am not venturing into my garage for it. So I had a collar length brown bob which my mum turned under with the hot brush every Sunday evening. I called it the rounded pyramid. It wasn't my favourite hairstyle. Holidays were spent at my Grandparents in Surrey, who celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary that year with a big party. I wore a red dress and asked the DJ to play Paul McCartney's the Frog Chorus. It was met with murmurs of disdain, my defence was I was 8 and didn't discover Wham! until 1986. The year ended with my parents separating.
